Creating arrays in Revit seems like a very easy thing to do, but we still need to understand some of the things that might make the array fail. One of these things or mistakes is trying to use “live” geometry in an array. To overcome this, we recommend to use nested components. This will allow us to have more control and consistency when creating these arrays.
- Setting up the main family for the array
- Creating a nested component based on a shape from a DWG file
- Link the necessary parameter in the nested family
- Placing the nested family in the main family and mapping its parameters
